Key takeaway: November 2026's biggest US releases are Godzilla Minus Zero and The Cat in the Hat (Nov. 6), The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (Nov. 20), Disney's Hexed (Nov. 25) and Focker-in-Law (Thanksgiving weekend).

November is when the fall movie calendar turns into the holiday one, and 2026's slate is unusually crowded at both ends of the month. Below are the wide US theatrical releases worth planning around, week by week, followed by the notable limited releases. Release dates do move, sometimes late, so the dates here reflect what the major calendars list as of late October; where sources disagree, we say so.

Week of November 6

Godzilla Minus Zero (Nov. 6, R, 135 min). Takashi Yamazaki's sequel to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One returns to 1949 Japan, where a second monster, King Ghidorah, attacks while the country is still rebuilding. Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return. It opens in Japan on November 3, plays IMAX early-access shows in the US the same day, then goes wide through GKIDS on the 6th. Reviews out of the New York Film Festival put it at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it is the first Godzilla film rated R in the US.

The Cat in the Hat (Nov. 6, PG, 1h 48m). Warner Bros. Pictures Animation's take on the Dr. Seuss character, directed by Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni. Bill Hader voices the Cat, who is sent to cheer up siblings Gabby and Sebastian (Xochitl Gomez and Tiago Martinez) as they adjust to a new town. Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, America Ferrera and Matt Berry are also in the voice cast. This is the family pick of the month's first weekend, and a direct counter-programming play against the R-rated Godzilla.

Also Nov. 6: Wild Horse Nine is on the calendar, and the 50th-anniversary re-release of Rocky arrives on November 7.

Week of November 13

Mid-month is the quieter stretch. Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol and How to Rob a Bank are both dated for November 13, and Victorian Psycho opens the same day. Two limited releases, Paper Tiger and I Play Rocky, start on the 13th and are listed to expand on November 20. If you are looking for an early Christmas movie, Ebenezer is the first of the season's Dickens-adjacent titles.

Week of November 20

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (Nov. 20, PG-13, 2h 38m). The month's biggest release. Francis Lawrence returns to direct the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel, set 24 years before the original film, on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell. Joseph Zada plays a young Haymitch Abernathy, with Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket, Mckenna Grace, Whitney Peak, Maya Hawke, Glenn Close and Kieran Culkin. It is also playing in IMAX. At 158 minutes, it is the longest wide release of the month.

Also Nov. 20: Josephine and Minotaur open the same day.

Thanksgiving week (November 25–27)

Hexed (Nov. 25, PG, 1h 43m). Walt Disney Animation Studios' Thanksgiving release follows Billie (Hailee Steinfeld), an impulsive teenager who discovers magical powers and is pulled into Hexe, a realm of witches, where she has to team up with her cautious mother Alice (Rashida Jones). Jodie Foster, Walton Goggins, Stephen Fry, Tracey Ullman and Henry Winkler round out the voice cast; Kris Bowers scores it. It is the obvious family choice for the holiday weekend.

Focker-in-Law (late November, PG-13, 1h 45m). The fourth Meet the Parents film, written and directed by John Hamburg, brings back Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner and Teri Polo. This time Greg and Pam's son Henry (Skyler Gisondo) is the one getting married, to a woman played by Ariana Grande. Calendars disagree on the exact date: Popverse lists November 25 and Bingebase's title page lists November 27, so check local listings closer to the holiday.

Also Thanksgiving week: The Adventures of Cliff Booth gets a limited theatrical run starting November 25 ahead of its December 23 Netflix release, and Hershey is listed for the same week.

What to circle

If you only see one film a weekend: Godzilla Minus Zero on the 6th (in IMAX if you can), The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on the 20th, and Hexed or Focker-in-Law over Thanksgiving depending on whether the kids are coming. For families, November offers two animated options two and a half weeks apart, The Cat in the Hat and Hexed. We will publish full reviews of the major titles as they open.
